2020 - The Year So Far
2020 - The Year So Far

2020 – What has happened this year?

Almost halfway through the year, and there has been much to reflect on so far.

The beginning of 2020 saw the worst bushfire season in Australia for some time. Murwillumbah was safe, thankfully, but many of our neighbouring towns and cities saw threats to homes and livelihoods. This has really showed the resilience and strength of the Australian people.

Residential Tenancies Regulation 2019

March 23rd saw the implementation of changes the Residential Tenancies Act 2010, and the new Residential Tenancies Regulations 2019. This meant changes to the way properties are managed to ensure a smoother renting experience for tenants and landlords. For our Property Management department, this means continuing to make sure our landlords are kept well informed of the laws and that properties continue to be managed to the highest standards.

COVID-19

At the same time, the country was rocked by the effects of COVID-19. In the interest of safety for our staff, our office chose to work remotely for a period of time, offering the same high quality services for buying, selling and managing properties, just in a safe and distanced manner. We are happy now to be back in the office and hosting open homes while observing all COVID-19 precautions. During this time, we continued to list and sell properties, with an increase in rural enquiries and many positive results from our hard working agents. In the last six months in Murwillumbah, our office has listed the most properties, and our office has sold the most properties in the area. This shows how hard our agents have been working despite the circumstances.

Awards Night

During this time, our First National Awards Night had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, but when the precautions relaxed, we were able to host our in-office awards with a virtual link to the other First National offices. We were so proud of the results:

Office Award

Top Ten Sales Office of the Year, Number 8

Individual Awards

Anne Besgrove – Gold Award

Paul Stobbie – Silver Award

Adrianna Jenkins – Silver Award

It was great to be able to dress up and have a few laughs together, celebrating our achievements, and the great achievements of the other First National offices around the state.

Improvements

We have also been using this time to improve some of our office procedures. This includes implementing paperless protocols to cut down on the amount of paper we print and reduce our environmental footprint, so far this has been a great success. We have also introduced ListReady, a pay-later option for marketing a property. For some, this is a great option to reduce upfront costs when listing a property for Sale.
